Review - Drizzle EP

Artist: Run Run Run

Posted on Thu, Feb 12, 2004 at 4:00 AM

Unlike the obnoxious arena-pop tendencies of his last group (Other Star People, which also featured Jennifer Finch and Todd Phillips), Xander Smith's new band plays to his fashion-plate sensibilities by combining lush atmospherics and solid melodies with an unmistakable swagger. The result is this five-track debut EP, which distills the more beautiful aspects of a band that's clearly a live powerhouse. If The Raveonettes are the shallow -- but totally fuckable -- cousins of The Jesus and Mary Chain, the rockist haze that Run Run Run creates makes them the big brothers that beat up on everyone in the family.
