Every year, there's some alt-rock Christmas compilation with a few great tracks and a bunch of bad tracks, but since "a portion of the proceeds" are going to charity, people buy it anyway. This year, that compilation is "Maybe This Christmas Too?" and the charity is Marine Toys for Tots. The catch is, most of these 14 tracks are pretty good. Sure, Christmas 2004 will have you wondering why you have holiday tunes by The Be Good Tanyas and Lisa Hannigan in your house, and you'll never really be able to forgive yourself for owning a CD that allowed a butchery such as the version of "O Holy Night" by Avril Lavigne and Chantal Kreviazuk that nearly derails this compilation. But, on balance, the contributions from Rilo Kiley, Badly Drawn Boy and The Flaming Lips ("White Christmas") help make so-so tunes from Dave Matthews and Sixpence None the Richer sound better than they oughta.
