Review - Dope Guns & Fucking Up Your Video Deck DVD

Artist: Various Artists

The appeal of snortin', shootin' and sexin' to clutches of pointy-headed college kids was an undeniable fact of the late-'80s punk rock scene. And, as labels like Sub Pop and Amphetamine Reptile established their reputations as testosterone-rich subcultures that provided hard-rock thrust with a cachet of cool, image was what it was all about. Unfortunately, threadbare budgets also meant that said imagery was often presented in Kozik/Koop-penned record art, rather than videos. Yet, clips were made and this DVD compiles the three VHS AmRep collections that made fanboys pull the Russ Meyer films from their VCRs back in the day to witness Helmet, Cows, Surgery, Halo of Flies (of course), Chokebore and others in action. This DVD tacks on a dozen bonus clips from the likes of Unsane and the amazing Feedtime for a total of 32 cheaply nostalgic videos.
