Review - Misanthropic Generation

Artist: Disfear

Posted on Thu, Sep 4, 2003 at 4:00 AM

Years of Discharge worship by these Swedes have not dulled their impact one bit. In fact, this long-delayed return to action finds them harder, louder and faster than ever. Having journeyman tonsil-shredder Tomas Lindberg (ex-Crown, ex-At The Gates) pushing these dozen tracks forward with his unmistakable growl has helped move the quartet beyond being a mere crust-core mimicry and, instead, a viable and powerful act on their own terms. Simple, straightforward and ruthlessly brutal, there's little here of depth, but the sheer power and heavy-ass anger these guys evoke makes you wish they would have gotten to "Protest & Survive" before Anthrax. (We won't even talk about what Metallica did ... .)
