This drowsy caper comes on like a fun-house mirror of layered pretensions, as a jewel thief (Jeremy Irons) with a brain tumor wends his way through a number of larcenous, possibly imagined scenarios; meanwhile, a lounge singer (Patricia Kaas) warbles bothersome cabaret pap. Could be we're in for something famously awful. But when the fates of the two leads begin to intertwine, we realize that it's just going to be boring old, garden-variety bad instead. Swing and a miss! At least we get to learn what Irons looks like in drag, which has to satisfy somebody's curiosity.
