Here's a test of patience for you: watching a stationary head shot of a senior citizen speaking in German for an hour and a half. If you can get past its static filmmaking style, this landmark interview with former Hitler secretary Traudl Junge holds some surprises, not the least of which is the perverse mundanity of many of her memories. As Junge recalls him, history's greatest monster sounds like a fairly typical boss: outgoing, preoccupied with appearances, and bugfuck crazy in ways that only occasionally intrude on the "office work."
