Review - Loneliness Knows My Name

Artist: Patrick Park

Loneliness Knows My Name
Label: Downward Road/Hollywood
Media: CD
Format: Album
WorkNameSort: Loneliness Knows My Name

Although this is his first full-length release, Park butters over finger-picked borders, blending various country-blues elements into solid compositions like a seasoned pro. Surely some of the credit needs to be given to Dave Trumfio (ex-Pulsars), who both produced and performed on the record, and recruited other impresarios like Eric Heywood (ex-Son Volt, Richard Buckner) and Dave Kostiner (ex-Creeper Lagoon) to lend their talent for spec. Yet the majority of the down-home charm in Park's torch songs finds solace hiding not in the precise production, but rather beaming in the personable poetry he's left dancing upon the neo-folkie motifs.
