Review - With Resistance

Artist: With Resistance

This New Jersey metalcore quintet brutalizes with their debut album, an accomplished-sounding assault that, though not exactly revolutionary, still provides the requisite sonic violence the genre requires. Actually, With Resistance is one of a newer crop of bands that's unafraid to more fully explore the "metal" part of the "metalcore" equation (even employing piano-based melodrama on "Chalk and Charcoal"), and their dependence upon a tightly-wound double-guitar attack beefs up their attack mightily. Doggedly heavy and only slightly punk, they still provide enough of a visceral thrill to keep the kids rockin'.
