Review - In the Flesh

Artist: Roger Waters

For avid fans, Pink Floyd has never been the "real" Floyd without Roger Waters. And while Waters' career floundered since leaving Floyd, his acclaimed tours of 1999 and 2000 reasserted his place as one of rock's noteworthy artists. "In the Flesh," a new two-CD live collection that captures the highlights from these concerts, is a solid document. Longtime fans will be drawn to the many Floyd songs that Waters and his band featured in the set, including "Money" and "Comfortably Numb." But "Flesh" shows that Waters' post-Floyd years have produced some worthy music as well.

The 24 songs on "Flesh" -- performed with plenty of heart and precision -- form an excellent overview of Waters' career. He sounds invigorated and inspired -- which wasn't the case toward the end of his Floyd tenure. Hopefully his return to the concert scene sets the stage for some new music.
