If you're an angry youth from a dysfunctional family, then Northern California-based Papa Roach is for you. Fronted by versatile singer Coby Dick, the band's sound is a cross between the neo-metal of Sevendust and the protest-rock of Rage Against the Machine. Mr. Dick is all over the place: rapping, crooning and flat-out screaming over a blended bed of funk, hip-hop, and hardcore. Yet the melodies remain crystal clear. "Snakes" rocks hard, while "Never Enough" exhibits Papa Roach's willingness to take it down a notch or two.

This record is a good candidate for a listen on an angry drive home or just to thrash about your bedroom in front of the mirror.
