Review - J-Tull Dot Com

Artist: Jethro Tull

For more than 20 years, legendary prog-rockers Jethro Tull have managed to perpetuate a heady mix of guitar, flute and piano with great success. The strategically named "Dot Com" -- Tull's latest -- shows the band updating these elements with '90s polish and a side order of grit. "Hunt by Numbers" opens with a murky guitar sound before giving way to Tull's progressive stance. Fierce riffing pushes "El Niño" into full-on jam mode. Lyrically, Tull is straight outta 1974 -- "ladies with ice-cream hair," from "Hot Mango Flush" -- and at times makes very little sense. Still, with two-dozen-plus albums behind them, these Brits prove they aren't too old to rock.
