Review - Micro-Tech Mix

Artist: DJ Micro

Posted on Thu, Feb 26, 1998 at 4:00 AM

Leading Long Island DJ/producer DJ Micro drops in 74 minutes of blazing breakbeat techno on "Micro-Tech-Mix." Loud, fast and hard, this is exactly what your home stereo needs to launch your apartment into outer space for galactic clubbing. His mixing style is a bit on the sterile side. Many of the tracks are segued into each other rather than mixed. But in the end, Micro does get the job done.

Some of the tracks border on the generic, which occasionally kills the momentum. But Deepsky's "Heaven's Gate" gets things moving again with its breaks and acid lines, while the Carl Cox and Paul Van Dyke remix of Tenth Chapter's "Prologue" is a stripped-down, dance-floor pounder. "Micro-Tech-Mix," while not as strong as Moonshine's "Funkydesertbreaks" series, continues the label's tradition of providing cutting-edge beats in a continuously mixed package.
