Note to Gov. Jeb Bush: Maybe brother knows best.
The New York Times reported that George W. Bush, Republican presidential front-runner, began posting on his website (www.georgewbush.com) a list of every contributor to his campaign. Too bad Jeb didn't think of that back when running for governor. He was plagued by questions about the identity of big donors to the Foundation for Florida's Future, a nonprofit think tank that kept Bush's hand in the public-policy jar before his gubanatorial campaign. Democratic challenger Buddy MacKay kept asking, "What's so mysterious?" Well, Orlando Weekly found that the foundation's biggest donation ($70,000) came from a road and bridge contractor involved in a 1992 bribery scandal that brought down the government of Brazil `"The golden eggs," Oct. 20, 1998`.
Still, posting his list of contributors hasn't erased all criticisms aimed at George Dubya. Campaign-reform advocates point out that he's probably just trying to combat the image that he's supported only by the rich and mega-rich.
