The Women's Caucus for Art has championed visual arts since the early '70s with its annual exhibitions. But as the clock ticks toward 2000, a theme suggested itself for the current display of work by members of the Orlando chapter. The "Woman 2000" juried art show was organized with the intention of representing women as the millennium approaches. "We wanted a title that was broad enough so that we could leave the interpretation up to the artist," says WCA's Judith Segall.
Segall's own interpretation, "Breaking Bounds," is a three-dimensional "life-body cast" that shares space with Kathleen Ivers' surreal oil painting, "Ice Cream Lady," and Arlene Brand's Norman Rockwell evocation, "Proud Grandma."
"Whenever local artists get together I think it's important," says Brand. "You don't need a star."
