(2010-376765) – 2:26 p.m.: It's hard to know what to make of this one: Police conducted a traffic stop "using all overhead lights and siren." Apparently they were chasing a bicyclist. (What kind of traffic violation could a cyclist make that warrants that kind of display, anyway?) The cyclist found the whole ordeal so upsetting that he ditched the bike and tried to flee on foot. He was caught and he apparently "battered" the officers when they tried to arrest him.

Otherwise, someone is likely to hear you and call the police, which is what happened to the guy trying to break into a law office on; E. Concord Street.;;

(2010-383135) – 3:02 a.m.: Two officers were investigating a battery when they heard a gunshot in a nearby alleyway. The officers investigated, guns drawn. "As we reached the dead end," the report says, "we heard the distinct metallic sound of a firearm being ‘racked' in order to chamber a round, from behind a bush." The officers took cover and ordered the suspect from behind the bush. He was arrested, and moments later the ;credits began to roll.

(2010-386591) – 9:06 a.m.: We're not sure what's going on over at the Alternative Education/Catalina Elementary School at 2510 Gulfstream Road, but this is the second police report we've seen about the property this summer. Sometime during the week of July 19, someone broke into the building, emptied a couple of fire extinguishers and stole some laptops and computers. This week the school system reports that, sometime between January 2009 and July 2010, someone "entered the fenced, locked, unoccupied property," which is currently under renovation. Two Trane air-conditioners were removed and a third one was disassembled. Copper theft, we're sure. But how is it that it took more than 18 months for anyone to notice? Shouldn't somebody be, like, keeping an eye on the property or something?
