Before I Go To Sleep S.J. Watson’s source novel was an out-of-nowhere phenomenon, thrilling readers across the globe with its story of a woman who awakes every morning with her memory wiped. OK, so we can define “out of nowhere” as “out of a place where nobody has seen Memento.” Which, I guess, is why this film adaptation – which stars Nicole Kidman in the Guy Pearce role – is being castigated on IMDB as a ripoff of 50 First Dates.Christ, it’s all enough to make you want to watch Shutter Island again.
