Jon Marsa, the nightclub owner who came to personify the opposition to Mayor Glenda Hood's push to shut down the city's internationally recognized late-night dance scene, may have spoken his last on behalf of The Club.
For the past year, Marsa was the most vocal of the downtown club owners opposed to the 3 a.m. closing time for nightclubs enacted by City Council. In reaction, Marsa and Sapphire Supper Club co-owner Jim Faherty organized the Downtown Business Coalition, a political-action group that is backing candidates in the March 10 election who are willing to reconsider the issue.
But Marsa apparently has had a falling out with Club co-owner Jan Harrold. The latter couldn't be reached, and Marsa, perhaps hoping not to stain the election, declined comment until after the vote. A call Monday to The Club got this response: "I don't know when he'll be in again."
