The Fringe festival is always full of surprises, but here's a surefire tip: You don't have to buy the requisite $6 Fringe button, nor a ticket to a show, to partake of the affordable yummies that are for sale on the lawn of Loch Haven Park. We went back twice last year just for Auntie Michelle's fried catfish and fritters, and we're gearing up to break the record. And the very fun Pom of Pom Pom's Teahouse & Sandwicheria is a literal touchstone, pouring her bracing iced brews for those who may want to avoid the popular beer tent. Also on hand: hemp-seed hummus from Dandelion Communitea Café, roasted varieties from the Nut House and barbecue from Elite Soul Food, as well as smoothies, ices, hot dogs, hamburgers and burritos. Depending on what time and day you visit, the offerings may differ.
