There are some great summertime wine values out there, and Tim Seaman at Gran Cru Wines (7730 W. Sand Lake Road; 407-226-3322) recommends some from unusual places.
The Greek vineyard Boutari has been winning awards with its light, crisp wine made with Moschofilero grapes, what Seaman calls a "perfect summer white" at around $14. The pale-green color and slightly citrusy taste of Pine Ridge's Chenin Blanc-Viognier blend is a worthy choice at only 10 bucks.
Consider the Tempranillo/ Merlot mix under the Spanish Vega Sindoa label (around $9) for a good everyday red, and the Shiraz from Barossa Nova of Australia for a solid value ($12.99; made in limited quantities, so grab it now.)
This season's big pop is Tresca from California's Allora vineyard, an award-winning Bordeaux blend that "blows anything else away" according to Tim, which Gran Cru sells for $100.
