Eyes on the prize(s)

A report on unrest among Disney shareholders and another on Orlando's worst landlords, both by Edward Ericson Jr., earned first place honors for Orlando Weekly in the Green Eyeshade Excellence in Journalism Awards handed out last week by the Atlanta chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Also honored -- for the third year running -- was columnist Liz Langley, for best humorous commentary among weeklies and monthlies competing in an 11-state southeastern region.

Ericson's feature, "$90 Million? How the payout to Michael Ovitz colors Disney's labor talks," took first place for business reporting; his "Tenant Terrors" won in non-deadline news reporting.
