Best Unexpected Sellout

UFC sells out the Amway Center

In April, the UFC held its first-ever fight in Orlando. It had been two years since the UFC had held a match in Florida at all, and the last time it tried – in Fort Lauderdale in 2012 – the organization struggled to sell tickets. Disheartened by the lackluster response, UFC president Dana White expressed disappointment that Florida didn’t seem to be a strong market for the sport, and the UFC has avoided Florida ever since. But Orlando may have changed everything. The arena sold out all 17,000 seats for the match and broke the record for ticket sales at the gate. Fans of UFC should rejoice at that news – White has since said he was so pleased by the warm welcome Orlando showed the sport that he expects it to return again soon, and often.
