Bare facts II

Double, double, toil and ... Seminole County wants no trouble. Last week county commissioners passed a law banning nudity in establishments licensed to sell alcohol. You wouldn't think the combo of drinking booze and removing clothes would merit its own law. But the county was responding to the May 28 performance at Casselberry's Club Juana of Les Femmes Fatales, which included scenes from MacBeth, as well as the first full nudity since the county passed a law in November banning nudity in public places. That law had an exception for "bona fide" theatrical performances, and the Club Juana show was deliberately trying to test this exception.

The new county law copies an existing Casselberry city ordinance. Officials got around the "bona fide performance" loophole by charging club owner Mike Pinter and the three performers with a misdemeanor under the "no alcohol and nudity" Casselberry ordinance. The four are scheduled to appear in court July 23.
