BEST OF ORLANDO 2008

Can you believe another year has passed? It seems like only yesterday that we were printing our fabulously popular Best of Orlando issue – which by the way is the original and best Best of Orlando, not that we’re biased or anything – and here we are doing it again. The best food. The best drinks. The best TV news hair. The best place to smoke a hookah. The best blogs. It’s everything you need to get along in our fair city. Kind of like an Orlando owner’s manual. Read what you, our dear readers, think is the best of Orlando. Read what we, our dear writers, think is the best of Orlando.

Read it and be wonderful.

Black Chapel is a wonderful custom tattoo shop that is new to the area.  Congratulations to Black Chapel for winning 2nd place and not even being open for 1 year!  Can't wait till next year!

Orlando's BEST Pet Supply place (since there was no catagory) would have to be Pookie's Pet Nutrition & Bow Wow Bakery!

Wow. The "rotund" commentary was a little on the rude side. Why can't the woman like who she is because [you] some arrogant "journalist" can't find anything more interesting to be humorous about without making fun of someone's weight? ...and now the award for Best Onset of Writer's Block Resulting in Making Fun of Someone Who Works Diligently to Help People's Confidence goes to....

I don't think there is any place for insults here. This is very offensive that people that writers at the Weekly can't avoid making fun on someone's weight. I thought you would be better than that.

The best Farmers Market is at Lake Lilly in Maitland on Sundays. The nicest setting, first rate vendors and music. Can't be beat.

To correct the anon post from 6/1, 5:00:06: Both the Lake Eola farmer's market and the Audubon Garden District farmer's market at Stardust Video have live bands/musicians for free. And those are just the ones I know of.

Maitland Farmer's Market at Lake Lily is the best. It's a pleasant way to spend a Sunday after church. Beautiful lake, live music from local artists, shade and a wide variety of friendly vendors and produce make this a top market.

I have an idea... why doesn't The Orlando Weekly have an award category for Best GLBT Publication! What's Happening Magazine is by far the most professional, entertaining and creative publication out there and they deserve their props! Check it out at www.whatshappeningmag.com

I think Fringe in downtown Sanford is the best vintage clothing store by far. Lots of amazing stuff and cool owners too.

Fringe is in Sanford. Hence, not Orlando. This is best of Orlando contest! But yr right-it is really cool! But there are great vintage shops actually in the city too! What about Etoile Boutique? They are awesome and have great prices!

FRINGE is the best festival. I wish they had more than one every year. I think they should do a 10 day festival in the spring and another in the fall. That would be sweet.
