I agree. This site is great! The person who wrote the first response is bitter and probably doesn't have any friends.

I just flew to Orlando from DC last week on business and picked up your mag on the street. I checked into my digs on International Drive and looked up your sight online. I took my crappy rental car from my crappy hotel on crappy International Drive with a crappy client. I had never been to Orlando before and really had no desire to ever go. I was sceptical of Orlando having anything of interest for me. We went to dinner at the Thai House wow, the food was incredible. I was amazed at how inexpensive the meals were. After that headed off to Austin's Coffee, the coffee and vibe were great. I had the best coffee I had ever had. We met a couple of local characters at Austin's and they dropped us off at the Peacock Club. That is where everything gets a little fuzzy. We drank ourselves to oblivion with a couple of lovely ladies. I lost my client somewhere after returning to my seat from the bathroom. I stummbled out on to the street alone where a taxi cab picked me up and brought me back to International Drive Hell. One week later I still cannot tell you what happened to my rental car(nor can the police). My client won't take my calls. He has responded to my emails with "You Bastard" in the subject line and has cc'd them to my boss. I believe my days at my job are numbered now, thanks to you. When that day happens(it might be today). I will be contacting head hunters in Orlando to relocate me. If ignorance is bliss why am I still reaping the pain of that crazy night? I enjoyed not caring about Orlando before, now I can't wait to go back. Cheers!(You Bastards)

A few things you might want to know before using any fun time to go to Big Daddy's 3001 Corrine DriveOrlando, FL 32803 for Karaoke or any R&R: First, it's a "smokers" bar and if you want a nice night out for some well deserved R&R or to sing Karaoke, without leaving the bar smelling like and old ash tray full of half smoked Camels, then this is NOT the place for you. Getting beyond any possible cig holes burned into your finest threads or the threat of 2nd hand smoke, for those who have made the choice not to smoke; lets talk about the lack of any fun nightly specials or real draw that this place may claim. The sign above the door, not the one in small print on the front door that claims "Smokers welcome" but the one that claims the bar was voted "Best Karaoke bar in Orlando". On this particular Thursday night, that I visited the bar to check out the Karaoke scene, the bar was semi filled and the Karaoke singers were in full swing. I submitted my song to DJ Di and proceeded to wait for my turn. Half an hour passed, an hour passed and after about 1 hour and 20 minutes my name was called to be "on deck" - only after seeing several people who had signed up after me being called up to the stage. When I asked the Owner/Bartender Kim about how the Karaoke system worked she replied "you are put into a rotation" as it is in most bars, I thought to myself, but when I said "there are people who have sung 2X's since I have been here" she didn't have an answer and shrugged her shoulders and walked away. So finally after almost 2 hours waiting and apparently 2 rotations, my turn to sing came around. After the first few words in the song I noticed the music and the mike were turned down to almost inaudible levels. I asked DJ Di, the Karaoke hostess, to please turn the the levels up some, thinking that I might, at the very least, be able to hear my own voice or the music above the conversations of the crowd. She flat out said "No". I proceeded to yell/sing my song and left the stage. In the small talk I made with the locals that followed, I asked about the Karaoke, the hostess and the normality of the crowd and night. I had several people comment that the hostess was "having an off night" and "she came in and her equipment wasn't right so she was mad", etc. This started me thinking that if I was in the entertainment business and I made it known that I was in a foul mood, I wonder what type of clientele would want to come back and if that could possibly happen again? Thank Goodness for Guinness - I guess. After assurance from many people that DJ Di was just having a bad beginning to her night (and that was all) , encouragement from the friendlies to sing again and observing that DJ Di's was smiling on stage (and that maybe the bad mood tide of hers had changed) I thought to myself, what the heck, I'll submit another song and give it a second chance. I skirted around the tables, chairs and clientele sitting in the isles up to the stage, once again, and tried to hand DJ Di another Karaoke song request. She said "NO" without further explanation so when I questioned her why the one of the girls on stage was singing for a second time since I sang she said "it was the other girls turn". Hmmm, interesting I thought. If I had hooked up with another singer I could sing my heart out, just a long as it wasn't my name on the paper or me trying to get another turn. Interesting.... Well, I just had to stay until the end of the Thursday Karaoke session at Big Daddy's and observe. And what not to my surprise did I see? but a trio of people go up 2 times, almost back to back, to sing. Guess they knew to submit slips with different names too. I again made mention to Kim, the Owner/Bartender about the situation she proceeded to give me her dime store diagnoses of me muttering something about "my negativity being infectious" with a full flush to her cheeks. Well isn't that special I thought to myself in my most amateur church lady voice. I've come here to check out the "Best Karaoke bar in Orlando" and not only am I having to deal with a Karaoke hostess with emotional issues but an Owner/Bartender who must had gotten her PHD in dime store Psychology from Woolworth's & Co. In retrospect, I had probably driven by Big Daddy's for several years without stopping for a reason and now I know just to keep driving by in pursuit of a non-ashtray stench smelling, Karaoke establishment, hoping that I will find a hostess/host that won't be projecting her "I'm having a bad night" on unsuspecting new comers and hoping that if I meet the owner of the establishment that they might have a little more concern or the slightest empathy (at the very, very least) for new comers that have a legitimate complaint. And not try to psychoanalyze people who do. You never get a second chance to make a first impression DJ Di and owner/bartender Kim and after attending your Thursday night Karaoke session you make staying home on a Thursday night to watch re-runs of the Golden Girls seem like an unforgettable experience in comparison.
