In the post-’90s Ramones-core landscape, few groups pay finer homage to the New York originals than Teenage Bottlerocket. While the boys in Bottlerocket don’t come from anywhere near CBGB’s – they call Laramie, Wyo., home – their material demonstrates a keen understanding of what made the leather jacket–clad punks so beloved: Their song subjects are simple (like the Ramones, they discuss nut jobs, huffing adhesives and unrequited love), the lyrics even simpler (“She’s Not the One” repeats the title 16 times), the hooks plentiful and ridiculously catchy, and feedback is kept to a minimum. However, don’t confuse a tribute with a tribute band. The quartet has penned some sharp pop-punk songs of their own, most memorably “Bloodbath at Burger King,” a minimum-wage tirade that lashes out against awful customers, vowing, “But you know there will come a day/I’m gonna make those fuckers pay.” (with Cobra Skulls, Tooth & the Enamels, Larf; 7 p.m. at Back Booth; all ages; $8-$10; 407-999-2570; www.backbooth.com) (Staff)
