Acclaimed folk band Elvis Perkins in Dearland is headlining, but most of the evening’s gravity will come from the radiant and reflective Americana of Mississippi’s A.A. Bondy. Though built on tastefully spacious arrangements, his gorgeous new album (When the Devil’s Loose) on Fat Possum is filled with dusty, unfolding midnight meditations thick with melancholy enchantment. The power of Bondy’s music comes from a rare ability to achieve mood authentically, maturely and without cliché. It’s what Ryan Adams could have sounded like had he remained as serious about his music as he is about his persona. Show up early, order a sipping whiskey and settle in for some soul-stroking.
