For 24 consecutive hours, every 3:56 seconds and a total of 366 times, performance artist Brian Feldman will leap off of a 12-foot-high summit
Did you know that today is Superman’s birthday? We only mention it because Orlando, while it may not be home to anyone who can leap tall buildings in a single bound, does have performance artist Brian Feldman, who intends to mark the date by jumping from a modest height over and over again. And we think that should count. Feldman – best known as the guy who turned his family’s dinner gatherings into reality-theater pieces – will spend the entire day leaping from a 12-foot “summit” into an airbag, giving the multitudes gathered outside Orlando City Hall something to ooh and aah about every three minutes and 56 seconds. Feldman promises a provocative presentation with professional lighting and sound design, all designed to complement Roy Shifrin’s nearby sculpture “The Leaper” while spurring the audience to ponder its own untapped potential – and perhaps curing Feldman’s recurring acrophobia. Airbag, schmairbag; we just wanna show up at midnight and see what shape his knees are in. (Staff)
