Anti-Pop acts we missed: The final day

By now I'm sure you've noticed that we're a fan of the Anti-Pop (hell, we're downright sponsors!). But as some (three?) of you may know already, this here paper tends to lock down coverage weeks in advance, mainly because the process from Word to print is a long one.  

This week we tried to give you a little blurb action on all the acts that were confirmed before lock. We think you'll like it.

  However, many, many, many acts have been added since then. For the complete schedule, well, just throw a rock. It's in our paper this week (page 9, yo!), and it's at the Anti-Pop site.   

Let's talk about some of the guys we didn't already, which isn't much tonight.

SATURDAY:

The Pretty Faces (Back Booth) No-frills power pop from South Florida

Beardsley (Tanqueray's) Dive-bar rock out of Clearwater
Only Thieves (Tanqueray's) Appealingly clumsy pop-rock from a Tallahassee trio
Buff Clout (Tanqueray's) Bruising J-ville duo with a hard prog bent

1991 (Uncle Lou's) These guys are just fuckin' giddy with the rock spirit
Republicorpse (Uncle Lou's) Another fantastic local grindcore outfit

Sunny Got Money (57 West) White-boy reggae. Too talented to be doing that.
No Circus (57 West) Man, we loved these guys once. As for what happened since, your guess is good as ours.

FINAL DAY - THAnk God, these 4-day drunks are not for the weak... AKA is JAMMED for WHOLE WHEAT BREAD...good Luck; moving on... Hero AWARD to; Beardsley at Tanqueray's; ended up having to stage to themselves: and took advantage by playing 2 full sets....nice. On to the BAck Booth....for Shapiro; everyone in the band has a wavy, big perm hairdo, and when they're all jumping around on stage during their songs...It does look a little wacky. Just sayin' Overall, no bad though. Spring Tigers were even better...more jumping.... The ETTES - highlight of the WEEKEND! Great...direct..great songs. worth the price of the wrist band....really.. Fake problems - Seen them a few times befor...Good Stuff ...on the verge of breaking out across the nation....you heard it hear almost first....... Finished at Uncle Lou's -Republicorpe/Khann- a MOSH-pit ?? in this room?? OK...that's cool. Spilled beers, drunkin' hugs and hate-music; what a great combo....the end
