Wednesday's Anti-Pop acts we missed

Fuck, how did we miss D'Agnese?!

By now I'm sure you've noticed that we're a fan of the Anti-Pop (hell, we're downright sponsors!). But as some (three?) of you may know already, this here paper tends to lock down coverage weeks in advance, mainly because the process from Word to print is a long one, but also, let's be honest, because we like to spend the days before it comes out lazing around drinking cosmos. Pantless.

Hijinks aside (again, the pantless kind), this week we tried to give you a little blurb action on all the acts that were confirmed before our cosmos-and-boxers period. We think you'll like it.

However, many, many, many acts (most with pants) have been added since then. For the complete schedule, well, just throw a rock. It's in our paper this week (page 9, yo!), and it's at the Anti-Pop site.

Let's talk about some of the guys we didn't already. Our BEATdown cohorts, Jason and Bao, can feel free to expand on it as we go.

WEDNESDAY:

Fight Like Animals (Will's Pub) Miami duo's laptop twiddlings
Dreaming in Stereo (Will's Pub) Interesting prog-pop, also from Miami
Sons of Hippies (Will's Pub) Earnest synth pop, locals

Thomas Wynn & the Believers (Plaza) Yeah, we like them a lot.
Gasoline Heart (Plaza) Hey, we like them, too!
Isaac Russell (Plaza) Pete Yorn touring mate from Utah. Equally sensitive acoustic stuff

J-Jive (Back Booth) Not a clue, but I'll find out and report back.
Orign (Back Booth) See above.
BC of Red Tide (Back Booth) Rapid-fire local hip-hop
AmIAm (Back Booth) Local battle MC
Grey Matter (Back Booth) Head-nodding local rap act

2 Face (Peacock Room) Not a clue
Dirty Irby (Peacock Room) Again, totally blank
Stranger Haze (Peacock Room) Let's see, they rap and they enjoy the pot. A whole lot.
Godpawn (Peacock Room) Also wild for the weed. Also hip-hop.

Lost Time Accident (Tanqueray's) That ubiquitous Orlando pop-rock sound
Christian Wilson (Tanqueray's) Effeminate pop from a pretty well known local
James Boyd Band (Tanqueray's) Local Boyd has an eyebrow piercing and a guitar. The rest tells itself.
D'Agnese (Tanqueray's) Local brothers pine mournfully about their, what, muscles and good looks? OK.

Even Dreaming in Stereo's many fans missed our set on wednesday cus the show was "sold out"... our fans were turned away at the door .. including 2 that drove from New Smyrna!, 2 that had offered to put us up for the night, and one who lent us gear. The club was completely unaccomidating to us.. and Mimuy Troll's fans had no interest in the opening bands.. not a good experience!! !
