Who's the hottest free-agent commodity in Hollywood at this very moment? O'Shea Jackson, otherwise known as writer-director-producer-rapper-movie star Ice Cube.
Although his last starring role, The Longshots, was a minor bomb, his previous couple of films as producer and star, First Sunday and Are We Done Yet?, were highly profitable and he hauls in about $10 million/film. In addition, his upcoming projects look like sleeper-hit shoe-ins: Janky Promoters, which Cube wrote, produced and stars in has attracted some buzz since the script was making the rounds; Cube's big-screen adaptation of Welcome Back, Kotter (he'll play Mr. Kotter) is also on its way, meriting complimentary words from John Travolta; and Cube has also announced another Chris Tucker-less Friday sequel, which has turned into a lucrative comedy franchise.
So what has Hollywood frothing at the mouth suddenly? He's agent-less again. Nikki Finke reports there's currently a "feeding frenzy" to sign Ice Cube. Welcome to bizarro world!
