Orlando is a hotbed of Halloween events.

Last year Orlando ranked No. 1 for “Parties & Activities,” but most of the scares come from theme parks and other professional settings. This year there’s another option for those looking for something a bit more authentic.

The famous Cassadaga Hotel is adding a special haunted house, the Coulrophobia, the weekend before Halloween this year. (For those of you who don't read the dictionary for fun, “coulrophobia” is the fear of clowns.)

Known for its real haunts, the Cassadaga Hotel is adding plenty of fake ones this year. The house will be managed by Sideshow Nightmare, a local horror entertainment company known for their odd horror merchandise including dirt for John Wayne Gacy’s (possible) grave and authentic items from the family of the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans.

The house will play up the rich history of Cassadaga, famous for its spiritualist camp. The town claims to the “Psychic Capital of the World.”No word on if the house will include any of the authentic items that Sideshow Nightmare sell on its website.

The house will be all-ages, but Sideshow Nightmares has warned some scenes may be too intense for certain guests.

Coulrophobia will open up Oct. 27 and run through Oct. 30.

Auditions for scare actors will be held Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon.
