6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday, July 8 | Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. Magnolia Ave. | 844-513-2014 | drphillipscenter.org
PechaKucha Night is back and the PowerPoint jocks plan on "Breaking the Surface" with a variety of presentations from members of the Orlando community that will address issues like racism, disruptive leadership and homelessness. All of the presentations follow the standard PechaKucha format of 20 slides with 20 seconds to present each slide, creating a strict framework in which to let presenters exhibit their creativity. From a hip-hop poem about sex trafficking to how skateboarding can be a social action, the night dives into topics that we're facing at this time both as a city and as a country.
