favorite ice cream
is now making its way to Orlando.
After discovering the New York-based Ample Hills Creamery, Iger, the President of the Walt Disney Company, began personally mentoring the owners. That led to the small, 3 location ice creamer scoring the license for the official ice cream of Star Wars.
The new line of dairy treats will include two flavors: The ultra-dark chocolate ice cream flavor appropriately called Dark Side, featuring espresso fudge brownies, cocoa crispies and white chocolate pearls and its counter balance, Light Side, a marshmallow ice cream with crispie clusters and cocoa crispies.
The boutique ice creamer will now be opening a shop at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort next to the ESPN Zone in the former arcade space. The shop replaces the Seashore Sweets ice cream shop (home to the famous jellybean jar) that closed earlier this year as part of a larger expansion of the Flying Fish next door.
The new location will be the 4th for Ample Hills and the first outside of New York City. It will feature a classic, early 20th Century style similar to the other stores while playing off the unique BoardWalk location.
Ample Hills is famous for its hand-made ice cream that uses grass fed cows milk and organic cane sugar. Most of the mix-ins, such as those Dark Side espresso fudge brownie bites, are made in shop. The BoardWalk location will feature a large window looking into the kitchen from the walkway.
Along with the Star Wars flavors and other favorites like the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake the new shop will also feature a brand new flavor exclusively for Disney World. No opening date has been announced.
