Because the I-4 has basically turned into Florida's version of Fury Road, local law enforcement is finally cracking down on reckless driving.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Florida Highway Patrol and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office announced the crackdown last Friday and have already written 417 citations, made eight arrests and gave out 164 warnings.

Police officers from Longwood, Altamonte Springs, Sanford and Lake Mary are also involved in the crackdown.

Back on March 27, two men were killed when they lost control and crashed into a guardrail near State Road 417. And, just four days later, a 22-year-old passenger was killed when their car lost control approximately six miles South from the aforementioned crash.

The number of injuries compared to March of last year is up 56 percent, says the Sentinel.
