The 30-year-old adventurer/Mayor told the Daytona Beach News-Journal
he plans to make this solo journey on a raft (made of 50 gallon drums) sometime in mid-April.
According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Johnson plans to fly to Havana with his wife and assemble the rig there.
Under new laws regarding Cuba travel, American citizens need specific licenses/reasons in order to enter Cuba. Johnson says he qualified for a license because of "journalism reasons," and so he'll be blogging about the trip.
He hopes to complete the 106 mile quest in roughly two days.
In an effort to better understand Cuban migrants, DeBary Mayor Clint Johnson says he will fly to Cuba and return to Florida on a makshift raft.
