plans to open a lakeside resto
in Lake Nona's Laureate Park last July. Then in November
we told you its name — Canvas Restaurant and Market. Now we can tell you that the restaurant plans to open Monday, Jan. 25.
Judging from these photos, Canvas paints a pretty picture in the neighborhood and will be an anchor in Lake Nona's burgeoning food scene (along with locations of Bavaro's Pizza Napoletana and Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine
when they open later this year). Executive chef Bryan Thoman's menu will comprise "new American cuisine influenced by Florida’s Southern and Latin American roots."
Some of the starters that will appear on the menu include house-smoked fish dip, mussels tomatillo and braised short ribs. Wood-oven-roasted mojo chicken, pan-roasted snapper and chimichurri hanger steak are just some of the entree options. A wood-burning oven will fire up flatbreads as well.
The Canvas bar will open daily at 3 p.m. and feature the requisite craft cocktails, local beers and limited menu items. The main dining room will open at 5 p.m.
The adjacent Canvas market will open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning Feb. 8 and will offer freshly prepared breakfast and lunch items from the Canvas kitchen, as well as housewares, books, jewelry and furnishings.
The restaurant will commence taking reservations Jan. 25 on OpenTable or by calling 407-313-7800.
