, the longstanding College Park Mexican restaurant, will open Nov. 4 under new ownership and transform itself into Peppy's Bistro in the coming weeks. New owner Gerald "Gerry" Peppy will introduce Spanish and Italian items to the menu while retaining some of Paxia's favorites.
Peppy ran Casa di Pepe
, an Italian restaurant, in Delray Beach before selling it and moving to College Park. New items guests can expect to see: paellas, eggplant rollatini with vodka-basil sauce, grilled octopus and shrimp salad, and traditional Italian soups, to name a few. Peppy, who's from the Buffalo, New York, area, also plans on serving some baked chicken wings (Italian garlic, I'm told), and for all you College Park imbibers: He'll retain the same happy hour specials as Paxia.
The scratch kitchen will be manned by Peppy as well as another chef he's bringing on board in the coming days. Sourcing, says Peppy, is a priority, and he's currently looking at options.
