Tickets are on sale and the schedule is now online for the Global Peace Film Festival. The fest, which held its first screenings in 2003, highlights documentaries and short films that that highlight environmental, economic, humanitarian and social-justice issues in a constructive framework. The goal, according to fest organizers, is to help people process and resolve conflict though nonviolent means.

This year's festival, which runs from Sept. 29 through Oct. 4 and takes place at multiple venues, will screen 57 films that take on such topics as terrorism, terminal illness, eliminating global waste and the history of the Nation magazine.

This year's opening night film, which will screen for free on the Rollins College Green, is Landfill Harmonic, a doc about Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a youth orchestra from Paraguay made up of kids who live next to one of the largest landfills in South America and make all of their instruments out of garbage.
