The Gov seeks someone to oversee the preparation of "daily, healthy, high-quality culinary dishes ... on schedule, in appropriate portions, and appropriate to the occasion." He also wants the chef to use Florida products whenever possible, which is a good thing, we guess.

GOVERNOR'S MANSION CHEF
Full-time, including some weekend hours and occasional travel; the ideal candidate would possess a bachelor’s degree or related culinary degrees with five or more years of industry and culinary management experience. Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent in this position works independently in the kitchen of the Florida Governor’s Mansion. Due to the high profile, public nature of the position, the incumbent must be well-organized and possess positive interpersonal skills (creativity, flexibility, and versatility) necessary to work collectively with a variety of staff members, temporary wait staff, visitors to the mansion, and the First Family.
Works independently to plan daily, healthy, high-quality culinary dishes and menus for the Governor and First Lady and their guests. Works in collaboration with one full-time Sous Chef to ensure that all dishes are served on schedule, in appropriate portions, and appropriate to the occasion.
Creates, prepares and directs the preparation of presentation of specialized cuisine, utilizing Florida products whenever possible, for all events hosted at the mansion. These weekly events include: official breakfasts, lunches and dinners, receptions, private dinners, and other food-related events hosted by the Governor and/or the First Lady.
Estimates food/drink consumption and purchases all food and beverage supplies needed for all events hosted by the Governor and First Lady. Directs and manages all aspects of presentation, receiving, storage, inventory and payment of food, beverage, and paper supplies. In addition, makes recommendations for purchase of specialty items, as needed.
Supervises and coordinates all food service activities of cooks and other temporary food service personnel on an event-by-event basis. Typical receptions include between 50–350 guests; typical state dinners include 20–40 seated guests. Trains and instructs cooks and temporary food service personnel, as needed.
Manages and schedules all food service personnel needed for each event hosted at the Governor’s Mansion. Event schedules are coordinated during weekly meetings. Maintains impeccable personal hygiene in the work area and enforces highest sanitary and safety regulations among colleagues. Established standards for production, quality and sanitation and performs periodic inspections to ensure that standards are maintained.
Understands and implements principles and techniques of food service planning.
Knowledge of the nutritional content of food.
Knowledge of food service management principles and techniques.
Determines need for equipment replacement and repair.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
NOTE TO APPLICANT:
* Salary will not exceed $54,000 annually.
