  • We hope Billy Kelly, whose dog's identity has not been revealed, renames his dog Lucky. And maybe gives him a steak. Or maybe even a whole cow.

He bought a lottery ticket. For his dog. And his dog won. It doesn't sound like the dog is the one getting the money. And they don't even give us a photo of the dog who's beating cheated out of, like, 15 million Ol' Roy biscuits and bathtubs full of beef liver? Life is just not fair.

OCOEE MAN WINS $3 MILLION SCRATCH-OFF PRIZE FROM TICKET IN HIS DOG'S CHRISTMAS STOCKING

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery announces that William "Bill" Kelly, 58, of Ocoee, claimed a $3 million prize in the $600,000,000 GOLD RUSH Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $2,351,433.02. He purchased his winning ticket at Publix, located at 1720 E. Silver Star Road in Ocoee.

Kelly purchased three $600,000,000 GOLD RUSH tickets to put in his family's Christmas stockings, including his dog's. "Giving Florida Lottery Scratch-Off tickets as Christmas gifts is one of my holiday traditions," Kelly said. "I always hope to at least win my money back and I play to win, but I never expected this."

The $20 Scratch-Off game, $600,000,000 GOLD RUSH, is the latest installment of the player favorite, GOLD RUSH Scratch-Off games. $600,000,000 GOLD RUSH offers better odds of winning $30 to $500, compared to previous GOLD RUSH games, and the best odds ever to win $500,000. There are eight top prizes of $3 million remaining. The overall odds of winning are 1 in 2.95.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 64 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $640 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2013-14.
