In case you couldn't smell it in the air, Rick Scott was touring through the area this morning on a bus-thing under the banner of "Let's Keep Working," because nobody is working. We caught wind late last night that he would be making an everyman stump at Austin's in Winter Park at 6 a.m. for whatever coffee it is that is necessary to keep that delusion rolling, and sure enough, he did go there. The real stops were the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce (natch) where they greeted him with some rather childlike signs to hang behind his head (starbursts ahoy!) and a sports arena in Kissimmee, but this was the blue collar Scott; just a guy out to get his cup of Joe before answering the tough questions about a state in peril. So what happened when activist Holly Fussell politely confronted Scott with some of those tough questions – pay cuts for teachers, education cuts in general, the dog "Reagan" he ditched after the campaign – at Austin's? Well, if you're a journalist who has ever spoken to Scott, then you'll know exactly what happened: nothing. In the end, a flack turned up to peace-out Fussell with a "what's your major?" situation and Scott never uttered a word of relevance. Here's some video of your once and (maybe?) former governor doing what he does best. Ignorance is bliss, etc.
