On Sunday, April 27th at 1 p.m., the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park  will present a talk by Dr. Mayhill Fowler, assistant professor of history at Stetson University, on the current events in the Ukraine in relation to their Nationalism in Music performances.

The talk will provide a historical context to the recent events in Crimea as well as to the works they will be performing; Sergei Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky Suite, Ukrainian composer Veleri Kikta's Frescoes of the St. Sophia Cathedral of Kiev, Finnish composer Jean Sibelius' Luonnotar and more, all of which deal with the concept of nationalism and the desire to triumph over oppression.

Check out this "Introductory Conversation" released by the Bach Festival on Tuesday.
