It was good. Really good.
Our review back in September of last year ("Where the gastronomes roam") was pretty much glowing, so it was no surprise, but it's still nice to know that Orlando has yet another impeccable choice for those days when you want to step it up a little around noon instead of the usual tupperware at desk/Chipotle run/nothing.
Pics or it didn't happen? Well, it happened, and I have the carb hangover to prove it – but if you need visuals, start scrolling.

The Smiling Bison lunch menu.
Vestiges of the old Redlight Redlight permeate the space.
We're not tired of Mason jars yet.
Pretzels with beer mustard: a Smiling Bison classic, but they weren't our fave today — only because everything else was amazing, and the pretzels were merely great.
Like this, for instance. The Scotch egg (house-made kielbasa and rye bread crumbs wrapped around a Lake Meadow egg) was killer. Definite new classic.
The fried cobia roll: fried fish with Bibb lettuce, roasted tomatoes and remoulade, stuffed into a buttered New England roll.
That killer fish sandwich came with a buttery/garlicky pumpkin-and-farro salad and house sweet-spicy pickles.
"Grilled cheese" seems too simple a name for this concoction of roasted maitake mushrooms, melty Monterey jack cheese and sweet tomato jam.
The supergrilled awesomecheese came with salt-and-vinegar shoestring fries.
OK, one more shot of that sandwich. Please bottle your tomato jam, Smiling Bison.
We split a hofbrau dunkel for dessert, in honor of the building's former tenant. Toasty-sweet and spicy.
