Saturday, June 30 – Faces
through July 28
Extra Large Gallery
431 E. Central Blvd.
If a free art event complete with a full liquor bar and a wide range of craft beers and absinthes sounds like your type of soiree, then the opening reception for curator Patrick Fatica’s Faces exhibit at Extra Large Gallery should be right up your alley. Featuring work by contemporary artists from around the nation, Fatica says that pieces will vary in technique but ultimately flow well together in the show, which runs through the end of July. We haven’t seen but a sampling of works from the show, but what we have caught in glimpses posted to Facebook includes rich, heavy-brushstroke portraits and bold, colorful street-art style works. The opening reception for Faces takes place Saturday at the Extra Large Gallery – it’ll be the gallery’s first national art exhibit, but hopefully not its last. If you can’t make it to the opening, the gallery is hosting a web preview on Thursday, so you’ll be able to see some of the pieces that will be featured. – Eleanor Roy
