Pit bull rescue organization to hold chili cook-off fundraiser on Sunday

Mike's Dog House, a dog rescue and adoption agency that focuses exclusively on "bully" breeds (pitbull, bulldog, bull terrier etc.), will be hosting a chili cook-off this Sunday from 3-7pm to raise money for their day-to-day operations. The cost is $7 at the door, but the chili won't be your neighbor's half-assed, token contribution: chefs from Dexter's, the Ravenous Pig, and Brick & Fire will all be brewing their own special blend of rich, meaty slop.

As you may recall, Mike's Dog House had originally scheduled their chili cook-off for March 6 at the Wall Street Plaza, but the event was cancelled in January after Wall Street management cited concern over being "affiliated with pit bulls."

Organizer Shawn Rose and EMA Productions apparently salvaged the fundraiser, however, with only a two week delay to speak of.

The event will take place at the H2O Church at 100 W. Livingston Street, which also happens to be the Weekly's former location. (The church is a sponsor, but neither the event nor Mike's Dog House are explicitly religious.) Expect raffle prizes, live music, and a pit bull or two. More info on the flyer below.
