Everything about Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek is understated. Kweli fronts an innocent guise through a street getup. He looks like the kid who stayed after school to help the teacher clean blackboards. The duo's debut, "Reflection Eternal -- Train of Thought," a study in muted brilliance, combines Kweli's high-pitched delivery and Hi-Tek's rugged beats. Kweli is the intellectual half of Black Star and defiant shadow to partner Mos Def; on Reflection, his politics are tempered by wisdom uncharacteristic of most MCs. He dreams about Africa, not Alizé ("Africa Dream"), and love, not lust ("Love Speakeasy"). De La Soul, Kool G. Rap and Xzibit all weave their personalities into this CD's fabric.
